John Dodd
FIoR - Pitched roofing
After training and practising as an architect, John joined the Marley Tile Company Ltd in 1976 and thereafter began a career which has embraced the technical and performance-in-use characteristics of a wide range of products used in walls, floors and external landscaping, as well as roofing and cladding.
In his current role, John is responsible for setting the technical specification and co-ordinating the design and application guidance for Marley Eternit’s wide range of roofing and cladding products, including the impact of both health and safety and environmental issues.
John is a fellow of the Institute of Roofing (IoR) and is an active member of a number of trade association technical committees, including the Concrete Tile Manufacturers Association, the Clay Roof Tile Council, the Construction Products Association (CPA), the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC), the Advisory Committee for Roofwork, and the Fibre Cement Manufacturers Association.
He is also a member of various CEN and BSI standards committees responsible for drafting both product standards and codes of practice for roof slating and tiling.
More recently, John has been involved with the sustainability issues surrounding the design, manufacture and installation of new technologies, including photovoltaic roofing panels and a roof tile that is made from 50% recycled material and has a special coating that neutralises NOx pollutants in the atmosphere.
