Swede deal
In 2008, ThyssenKrupp Bausysteme became involved in developing the designs and cladding specifications for Ikea’s expansive new build and refurbishment programme that the furniture giant embarked on across Europe.ThyssenKrupp manufactured and supplied the range of Hoesch Isowand ‘Integral’ and Isorock composite panels in the Ikea ‘house’ colours of blue, yellow and grey.
For the new build Southampton store (pictured), the colour finishes were applied in PVDF with a thick film, in addition to the ‘Galfan’ protective coating applied to the steel substrate due to the exposed marine location of this project.
The Hoesch Isowand ‘Vario’ panels were produced to comply with LPS 1181 reaction to fire standard, while the Isorock panels also meet these requirements, in addition to providing fire resistance in specific areas identified by the designers in accordance with regulatory requirements.
The manufacture and supply of the materials was managed by Glasgow-based ThyssenKrupp Building Systems, and delivered to the specialist cladding contractor, Topek.
