ThyssenKrupp gets on FM wavelength
Steel composite insulated cladding products manufactured in Germany by ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe AG and marketed in the UK by ThyssenKrupp Building Systems have been awarded FM certification. The company had been examined under FM 4880 during 2008, and its sandwich elements were rated as fire-resistant for buildings up to 9.1m in height.
In 2009, a further examination and test resulted in approval and certification for its sandwich elements installed on walls of unlimited height.
Testing for FM 4880 was carried out by the US organisation FM Approvals. In addition to flammability tests on the steel construction elements under varying conditions, the testing also included an extensive audit of ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe AG’s facilities and suppliers to ensure that the fire resistance of the products can be guaranteed at all times.
