RCI SHOW 2017 REVIEW RCIMAG.COM DECEMBER 2017 031 In addition to this, leading suppliers including SIG Roofing, Easy-Trim and Rinus Roofing Supplies had their latest offerings on show along with experts ready to answer visitors’ queries. As Stuart Base of SIG Roofing told us: “There’s been a really good buzz and a really good energy, and there’s been a really strong throughput of quality visitors from roofing contractors, to architects and specifiers, through to planning and surveying, and people are really interested in getting to know what’s new in the roofing sector.” What always stands out to exhibitors and visitors to the RCI Show is the specialist nature of the event and the direct relevance to their market. Where larger, more general exhibitions may touch on the roofing, cladding and insulation sectors, the RCI is the only UK event which focuses solely on these markets. This was pointed out by Cathal Quinn of Moy Materials, who told us “the RCI Show is the leading roofing show in the UK and the perfect place to showcase our products and meet existing and new customers.” Craig ODonnell, of Knauf Insulation, echoed these sentiments, saying: “Because the RCI Show is a very specific trade show, we find the people that come here are the people that want to talk to you about the products we are promoting, so everyone that comes on the stand has a genuine enquiry.” And as the leading UK exhibition for the roofing, cladding and insulation sectors, in what has been a difficult year for construction in general, the organisers recognised that it was important to put on a seminar programme which touched on the key issues affecting the sector, such as the correct approach to roof design and specification; high-rise design and fire safety in buildings above 18m; how commercial building owners can ensure the performance of their roof assembly; understanding BIM, plus a review of the green roof market. In addition to the regular debates, one of which we have reviewed for you overleaf, the seminar programme and speakers were both educational and entertaining. As show director Tony Brown explained, the hard work and preparation is already underway for the next instalment of the RCI Show: “Following the recent acquisition of the RCI Show by exhibition experts the Mark Allen Group, we aim to tap into their considerable expertise and build on the strong foundations we have already established. This can only mean an even better show experience for both visitors and exhibitors to future RCI Shows!” If you couldn’t make it this year, we look forward to welcoming you to the Ricoh Arena for the next instalment, but here’s some of the new launches and sector-specific innovation that you missed out on...
