Zink INSULATION 01992 801927 www.almhm.co.uk Sliding into compliance with EcoTherm Kingspan TEK offers speedy fit Off-site construction has facilitated the quick erection of an Early Years Centre for school. The building envelope was successfully completed in just over two weeks, with the help of the Kingspan TEK Building System of structural insulated panels (SIPs). Surrey Square Primary School commenced a 10-year improvement plan in 2006, the final part of which included the erection of its singlestorey Early Years Centre (EYC) and crèche. This new-build will accommodate up to 34 pre-school children and eight under three-year olds. Earle Architects specified 420 m² of the Kingspan TEK Building System in a 142 mm thickness for the walls and roof of the new centre. Earle Architects, commented on the specification: “The Early Years Centre and crèche have been designed to achieve harmony with the original Victorian school building through the use of natural materials including exposed glulam beams. We chose Kingspan TEK as all of the panels are PEFC Chain of Custody certified with low embodied energy and excellent U-values, to ensure minimal environmental impact.” The Kingspan TEK Building System panels have been fixed to the glulam frame on the walls and roof, which provided a secure building envelope that was then sealed with a breather membrane to make it watertight. Following this, the rooflights were installed down the centre of the roof and the Kingspan TEK panels clad with western red cedar shingles creating a visually striking aesthetic. Kingspan TEK Building System panels are light which ensured there was less structural stress on the school building in addition to being easy to handle. They were pre-cut by delivery partners, Glosford Timber Solutions, to specification and delivered to site ready for installation. www.sgpr.co.uk onstruction insuranc ance e access to market intelligence through ough the er’s facilities to monitor the customers s’ credit e of mind knowing that your largest oods on site and goods o  site tions and nal account balances tions falling due over the next twelve mon y when paid nd much more… e months let:to construction credit insura e any ve of your contractors. ance and a ur website: www.statuscreditinsurance e.co.uk and ou relevant RCIMAG.COM JANUARY 2018 043 EcoTherm is putting its technical knowledge in your hands with the release of a handy Eco-Cavity Full Fill U-value Slider. Available in builders’ merchants and from the EcoTherm area sales managers, the new tactile aid provides a quick and easy way for builders to select the correct thickness of Eco-Cavity Full Fill to achieve the required U-value. The tool features ten internal block lambda values for both brick and rendered dense block walls. Users simply pull the slider to reflect their project’s specifications and reveal the U-value that can be achieved by the 90 mm, 115 mm and 140 mmthick Eco-Cavity Full Fill boards. EcoTherm Eco-Cavity Full Fill board dimensions are sized to coordinate with brick and block sizes and heights, allowing them to be easily installed with standard wall tie methods. Their tongue and groove edges offer a superior fit and increased resistance to moisture penetration. A residual 10 mm cavity should be retained when installing the boards to accommodate mortar squeeze and to provide further protection against moisture ingress. Thanks to the product’s low thermal conductivity, it can offer improved thermal performance than comparable mineral fibre solutions. www.ecotherm.co.uk/cavityfullfill Copper Stainless Subbies - Protect your business against bad debt with a construction credit insurance policy • You will have ac credit insurer rating perfor • Gives you peac asset is protec ected ed?
