The partnership marked the company’s first venture into the external rainscreen cladding market and brings A1 non-combustible and bomb blast-rated cladding to the UK for the first time. The products now available in the UK include Dyna Panel Glass & Stone systems (both frameless with secret fix), and Dyna Panel Stone Veneer for interior wall linings, including feature areas. At the time, Paul Winwood, managing director of SPSenvirowall, said: “We have now become a whole solution offering for architects and developers who want to bring all aspects of a project together under one supplier, combining external wall insulation, render and cladding. “The partnership is also bringing some of the world’s highest safety-rated cladding products to the UK market for the first time, opening up opportunities for higher-level specification. Dynamic Cladding products are ETA-approved, which meets and goes beyond BBA requirements.” Gavin Ross, technical specifications manager at SPS envirowall, joined the company in June 2017 to head up the new cladding division, and works alongside architects, contractors and installers to support them with the right specification, technical detailing and product selection. I caught up with Gavin to have a chat about the business and how it is going so far. He said: “SPSenvirowall is a forward-thinking company which, coupled with Dynamic’s new products, make a great combination. We’ve noticed a change in the industry, and we’ve taken steps to be ahead of the market by offering the full range of cladding, external wall insulation and render products – so essentially we now offer a complete package for envelope wrapping.” The SPSenvirowall glass rainscreen cladding system has reportedly achieved the highest fire rating possible, and the company’s stone cladding is said to be the only one in Europe to have achieved a bomb blast-rating. Sadly, the risk of terrorist attacks has become a constant threat in the UK, which means these new types of building materials are being specified. Gavin explained: “Terrorism is now a global event. These are challenging times, but we’ve got to move forward. The construction industry is constantly evolving and there is a growing trend for these types of materials – such as bomb blast-rated cladding. Most prominent buildings within London and other inner cities have become terrorist targets, and government legislation is 044 MARCH 2018 RCIMAG.COM The future is dynamic RCI’s Holly Miles caught up with Gavin Ross, technical specifications manager at SPSenvirowall, to discuss the future of cladding and the company’s exclusive UK partnership with cladding manufacturer, Dynamic Cladding driving the change to use more modern building materials and construction methods.” The new cladding range is certainly making a significant but unseen difference to construction projects in the UK, but what difference is it making aesthetically? Gavin explains that the company can print highresolution images onto glass cladding, as well as graffiti-resistant and anti-glare treatments, Stairwell at Waterloo Station before Dynamic Cladding was installed “Cladding manufacturers have a shared responsibility to be innovative” View of the stairwell at Waterloo Station with Dynamic Cladding DynaGlass installed which also reduces the maintenance required, plus stone encapsulated with glass or simply many stone finishes.
