Sarnafil has seen its single ply system repeatedly specified by the University of Cambridge in the refurbishment of aging roofs around its campus, with Fenner’s Fitness Suite being the latest building to receive a Sarnafil roof. Roofing Contractors Cambridge (RCC) installed 870m2 of Sarnafil’s G410-15EL lead grey membrane to the failing asphalt roof to make the building watertight and improve its thermal performance.
Prior to this project, the local contractor also furnished the Department of Zoology’s ailing roof with a replacement Sarnafil G410-15EL lead grey membrane.
RCC’s Dave Stewart commented: “The existing asphalt surfaces on both buildings’ roofs were tired and looking generally untidy. They needed to be brought up-to-date insulation-wise as well as waterproofed and made more aesthetically pleasing.
“Sarnafil’s lead grey membrane is ideal for these sorts of works as it offers a practical, neat solution to refurbishing failing asphalt that doesn’t stand-out to the untrained eye.”
The university’s surveyor, Richard Burgess, added: “Sarnafil is regarded as a cost-effective solution for flat roofs. It’s a good replacement for asphalt and met our insulation upgrade requirements, plus it allows us to replicate the lead-look common to many of our roofs. The product also benefits from a 20-year guarantee and we fully expect it to perform over that period.”
