Remembering David Street
Colleagues at the Howarth Timber Group are shocked and saddened to announce the premature death of David Street, who managed the company’s merchant branch in Ashton-under-Lyne, aged just 51.David joined the company in the late-1970s as a management trainee, working under the guidance of the then manager, John Roberts. David showed great potential and was the natural successor to John when he retired in 2002.
A spokesman for Howarth said that not only did David know the business and the industry inside out, but he made it his mission to know his customers equally well too – earning their respect with his knowledge, advice and friendliness.
MD Nick Howarth said: “David was well respected and very popular with everyone he came into contact with.
“He brought so many qualities to this business, and the success of the branch he managed is testimony to his abilities and experience. He will be greatly missed by us all.”
David leaves a wife, Jacqui, and son, Nicholas, to whom colleagues at the Howarth Timber Group send their deepest condolences.
