Sheffield-based specialist roofing contractor, Martin-Brooks, has welcomed the arrival of its first in-house health and safety officer, Nicola Jackson.

Nicola will be responsible for ensuring that all of Martin-Brooks’ staff have the necessary qualifications, equipment and documentation for working at height, as well as making sure that they are operating safely on every job.

Previously Nicola worked for Nottingham quantity surveyors GNA as a CDM co-ordinator, and she will use her expertise in her new position to create a new business providing training and advice to construction companies, local authorities and companies that carry out or have roofing carried out on their behalf.

Nicola said: “I am very pleased to be joining Martin-Brooks. The firm has an excellent reputation within the construction industry and I am familiar with its team, having worked closely with them on a number of projects for my previous employer.

“I am particularly relishing the opportunity to expand the company’s areas of business and I am looking forward to the challenges it will present.”
