A head for woodwork
Accsys Technologies has appointed John Alexander as head of product development. John joins Accsys from BSW Timber, where he was head of business development and led the research and planning that resulted in Accoya wood’s successful introduction to the UK market. John received a bachelor’s degree in wood science from Bangor University in Wales and a master’s degree in wood science from the University of Maine, USA, where he was graduate student of the year 2000. John began his career in North America as a research manager at JELD-WEN, before joining BSW Timber in 2003.
Accsys CEO, Paul Clegg, said: “John brings a wealth of technical and market experience to the company and is deeply knowledgeable about timber products and modified wood. John’s appointment will strengthen our ability to serve both our current customers and prospective licensees around the world. We are delighted that he has joined us at this very exciting time in the company’s development.”
On taking up his appointment, John commented: “Accoya is a high-performance, sustainable building material which is now widely accepted by architects, distributors and the building trade. In due course I believe that Accoya wood will be employed in a huge range of end-applications around the world. My role is to help facilitate this process and I am looking forward to meeting this new challenge.”
