What a crawler
Ladderstore has worked in conjunction with a large UK ‘Arms Length Management Organisation’ (ALMO) to develop Special Crawler Boards for use in household lofts. The company developed the product to provide a firm and stable base from which to work safely in these areas where access is often restricted.
The Special Crawler Board is manufactured from heavy-duty aluminium and designed and built to the exacting requirements of BS2037: 1994 Class 1 Industrial Grade.
It is constructed in compact sections, each 1m long, which are secured together with nylon straps fitted with quick release buckles. The sections can be lifted through small loft hatches and then assembled quickly and easily in the loft space. Ideally only three sections – measuring 2.7m long in total – should be fitted together at any one time.
The Crawler Board is intended to take the weight of one person working within the limited space and it has a maximum static load of 175 kg. It is only for use when placed on roof joists which ensure an even distribution of the load and to give support at least every 300mm.
