Proctor Group. The project is a 220-unit residential apartment building located in the heart of Salford and offers a mixture of studios, one, two and three bedroom apartments, and townhouses, with parking, a gym and a communal garden. Planned over a 78 week build program the Bridgewater Point is due for completion in August 2017. Project architect Andrew Tate of Bowman Riley Architects, Leeds required a high-quality air tightness membrane and chose Wraptite as an external air barrier as opposed to an internal air barrier system. Wraptite was applied externally to the Siniat Weather Defence Board in continuous pieces. The membrane is said to bond fully to virtually any substrate, requiring no mechanical attachment, seals or tapes to suppress air leakage around junctions or penetrations. According to A. Procter Group, Wraptite is the only self-adhering vapour permeable air barrier certified by the BBA and combines the important properties of vapour permeability and air-tightness in one self-adhering membrane. Wraptite’s high vapour permeability reportedly allows the substrate beneath to dry quickly and moisture vapour to escape. This ensures good indoor air quality and reduces the likelihood of mould, mildew, condensation, timber distortion and metal corrosion, and provides additional protection during the construction phase. www.proctorgroup.com/air-barriers Phase one of Rushden Lakes complete CA Roofing Services, along with CA Group’s specialist cladding division SCS, has announced completion of work on phase one of the £140m Rushden Lakes development in the Nene Valley, Northamptonshire. When complete, the retail, leisure and tourism destination will include a 14-screen cinema, cycle hire, indoor trampoline and climbing facility as well as restaurants and access to some of the UK’s biggest high street shopping brands. Michael Cinnamond, divisional manager for SCS, explained: “The various buildings which make up phase one of Rushden Lakes showcase a range of different skills: from standard, prefab boxes serving as boat houses and stores which have been transformed by wooden cladding to match their lakeside surroundings, to high-end restaurant and cafe facilities which feature an abundance of glass, enabling diners to take in the view.” The project features a range of specially fabricated PRIME rainscreen panels in multiple finishes including stonework and timber cladding. Designed by CA Group’s Rainscreen division, working closely with the project team, the company says that the panels give the development a unique appearance. Steven Forster, sales and estimating director for CA Roofing Services, concluded: “With such a high profile project, involving so many stakeholders, there were a number of priorities. “These included ensuring any bespoke design requirements made by the tenants were met, creating a high-end finish with attention to detail at every step and keeping to the strict time scale which had been allocated. Working closely with the team at SCS, I am very pleased to say that we were able to tick all of these boxes and the end product looks fantastic.” www.cagroup.ltd.uk Copper Stainless Wraptite makes Salford project airtight Work on phase one of the £140m Rushden Lakes development is complete HOSPITALS POWER PUBLIC BUILDINGS SCHOOLS SHOPPING CENTRES UNIQUE LIFTING SHOE SG4 FREESTANDING GUARDRAIL SYSTEM Unique patented lifting shoe Safe, secure and cost effective flat roof edge protection Please visit our website or call Whelan Plant: Tel: 01959 571788 Fax: 01959 571068 Email: info@shorguard.co.uk www.shorguard.co.uk SG4 A DIV OF JP WHELAN & SONS (CONSTRUCTION) LTD SG1 SG2 SG3 SG4 PERMANENT TEMPORARY SHORGUARD EDGE PROTECTION SYSTEMS
