June was a busy month for
awards. In the roofing sector
we had the Single Ply Roofing
Association Awards, and
the BMI-backed Redland
and Icopal Apprentices of the Year
competition, which culminated in
two days of intense scrutiny from a
panel of industry judges.
And RCI is not being left out of the fun!
Our own awards – the Pitched Roofing
Awards luncheon, which are taking place
on November 30, 2018, at the Midland
Hotel in Manchester, are now open for
nominations, and I’d like to take this
opportunity to invite you to participate.
Whatever the size of the company or
scale of the project, the Pitched Roofing
Awards, which celebrate and reward
best practice and excellence, are open to
contractors and manufacturers across
all aspects of the sector to have their
achievements held up as an example to
the industry.
Nominations for the awards
can be submitted online at www.
pitchedroofingawards.co.uk, and must be
received by September 7, 2018. So don’t
delay and start working on
your nominations now, where
our independent judges will
then decide on the winners.
Meanwhile in other news,
the eagle-eyed amongst
you will have noticed that
this month’s issue has been
redesigned, with a new logo
and fresh content strategy.
Earlier this year, we
carried out a reader survey to
improve our understanding
of how RCI can continue to
evolve and better meet the
needs of contractors.
One frequent message we received
among the hundreds of replies was
that readers enjoy the editorial
content we produce every month.
As the roofing, cladding and
insulation industry continues to
evolve at a rapid pace, we feel that
contractors and manufacturers need
to be regularly informed about the
changes that are impacting their world.
To ensure that we bring readers
in-depth news analysis, opinion
and business advice, the RCI team is
constantly out and about, speaking to
experts and learning about the ongoing
developments in the industry. This allows
us to be close to the needs of our audience
and to create, interesting and exclusive
content that will help our readers bridge
knowledge gaps and consider new ways
of working to make the most of any new
opportunities that offer themselves.
We worked hard to come up with a
look that we think best reflects the news
and features we bring to the market,
and what you have in your hand is the
result of hard work, so I hope you enjoy
