INDUSTRY NEWS PEOPLE New managing director in anniversary year HD Sharman is celebrating 30 years of its gutter-lining system Plygene Gutterline this spring with the announcement of a number of developments. With customer service at the core of their approach, the company says sisters Lyn Hartley and Margaret Bullen have been instrumental in establishing HD Sharman since they first introduced Plygene Silage Pit Liner for the agricultural industry in the 1970s. Since then, the sisters evolved the product to meet the needs of their customers and launched Plygene Gutterline in 1984. While still active in the company, Lyn and Margaret have brought in new managing director Mark de Rozarieux to help manage demand for the company’s products and to maintain standards of quality and service. Prior to HD Sharman, Mark held a number of senior positions within the building products sector, most recently at the PTP Group, owner of leading window timber brands Mumford & Wood and Timberwindows.com. One of Mark’s goals during this 30th anniversary year of Plygene Gutterline will be to manage the expansion of HD Sharman’s workforce and investment in its production facilities and offices, in order to ensure that the firm is able to cope with any growing demand. Mr. de Rozarieux said: “In the 50 years that Lyn and Margaret have been involved in the business, they have successfully built up a company that remains true to its principles and puts customer service right at the core of its operation. “Both Lyn and Margaret are wellknown 012 MAY 2014 RCIMAG.COM and highly respected within the industry, and it is a tremendous privilege for me to be able to work alongside them. It also launched product-specific quick response (QR) codes, enabling those installing its products to easily access the necessary information via any internet-enabled device while on site. The company is currently piloting an on-line quotation system designed to save on the time involved in the traditional “print and fax” method. New CPA chairman John Sinfield, managing director of Knauf Insulation Northern Europe, has been appointed the new chairman of the Construction Products Association (CPA). Mr. Sinfield said: “Given all the political uncertainty over the coming year, with regulatory doubt over energy security, costs and carbon measures, we need manufacturing to be underpinned by a vibrant, long-term, cross-party industrial strategy which enables the UK to capture supply chain advantages for firms here in this country. I therefore look forward to leading efforts to help bring key players together to find a way forward on these matters. “There is a tremendous amount of very important work to be done which will have a very real impact on our businesses. However, we are well placed as the leading voice within our industry to help the wider construction and manufacturing communities to engage and work together.” New sales manager Brett Martin Daylight Systems has appointed Tony Isaac as its new technical sales manager for the Midlands, South West and South Wales areas. Responsible for providing technical support from initial design and site survey through to installation on site, Tony will work closely with architects, specifiers and contractors to offer advice and guidance on the best rooflight options for a range of applications. Mr. Isaac said: “I am delighted to join the Brett Martin team as my new position presents a number of new challenges and opportunities.” With over 20 years sales management experience in the construction and roofing industries, the company says Tony offers technical, practical and product knowledge.
