PITCHED ROOFING Royal recognition as Permavent’s Easy Roof System wins Queen’s Award Permavent says its patented Easy Roof System has reinvented double lap roofing, allows any type of slate and plain tiles to be installed at very low roof pitches, and also considerably improves the overall performance of these roof coverings. The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise is said to be the most prestigious business award in the UK and recognises organisations who excel in the sectors of international trade, innovation or sustainable development. Stephen Makin, managing director of Permavent, explained: “We are absolutely delighted to win this award. It is great to be acknowledged for the hard work we have put in and the changes we have made to the industry. We look forward to using the success of this award to recognise the development of further innovations.” The Easy Roof System includes Easy Slate, a side check strip that allows any natural or manmade slate to be installed on a roof pitch as low as 12 degrees. When this strip is installed alongside a slate, Permavent says it improves the performance of each slate by up to 500%. There is also the Plain Easy, which Permavent says allows any type of plain tile to be installed on any roof as low as 17.5 degrees and is designed weatherproofing to improve the properties of double lap plain tiles. Neither product affects the aesthetics of the roof and the company says they follow traditional construction practices, Zink Copper Stainless which are quick and easy to install. They are also said to be made from the highest grade impact plastic and unique patented super seals which raise the tiles and allows sufficient ventilation to clear roof condensation. Permavent says other system products include a “superb dry verge”, which it describes as “the best in Britain and the only one available that doesn’t leak”, along with products for the eaves, soakers and valleys. Permavent was established in 2005 and describes itself as a roofing expert that designs, manufactures and distributes roofing ancillary products. In addition to the Easy Roof System, products include breather membranes and a recently launched fireproof membrane. The company has also revealed a new logo, which it says reflects its ethos of “continued, innovative growth, whilst also providing a more established brand image and greater sense of brand unity across the business.” www.permavent.co.uk Main image: Permavent’s Plain Easy product.
