British Gypsum to exhibit at the Osite Construction Show
British Gypsum will be
showcasing its range of high
performance solutions at The
Osite Construction Show
2018 (OSCS2018), which
is taking place at ExCel in
London on 20-21 November.
The manufacturer of
interior lining systems will be
returning to stand D5, with
its experts oering practical
insight and product advice
throughout the show.
The central feature of
British Gypsum’s stand at
this year’s OSCS will be
Glasroc X, its new external
sheathing board solution.
Certified by the British Board
of Agrément (BBA), Glasroc
X has been engineered to
provide six months weather
protection when left exposed
prior to the completion
of the external structural
façade. This provides
contractors with peace of
mind that construction won’t
be disrupted by weather
elements.
Other products from
British Gypsum’s osite
range to be exhibited at
the show include Gyproc
Habito, a plasterboard with
enhanced strength and
durability, which is capable
of supporting heavy items
such as cupboards, TV’s and
radiators on single no.10
woodscrews, without the
need for specialist fixings or
wall plugs.
Also on display will be
Rigidur H, a smooth finish, fire,
sound and impact-resistant
gypsum fibre board, available
in bespoke sizes for improved
productivity.
The Osite Construction
Show brings together
professionals from design,
construction and innovation,
from all over the construction
industry.
The two-day show is free to
enter, with over 100 exhibitors
and seminars and masterclass
sessions taking place.

Glasroc X Sheathing Board
sto provides the perfect acoustic solution for major garden museum project
An acoustic system from
Sto was specified for
a£7.5 million museum
redevelopmentproject in
London. The StoSilent Distance
system has been installed in
the Garden Museum.
According to the
company, the StoSilent
Distance system provides a
‘modern, clean, monolithic’
alternative to the standard,
but limited design options
associated with exposed grid
and tile systems, or boards
with multi-facetted holes
or slots. It is said to provide
positive, balanced acoustics
within buildings, helping
architects and designers
to achieve clean and
uncluttered lines.
The StoSilent Distance
system utilises its own Sto
SC400 metal framework,
and StoSilent Distance 110
boards. The boards are
manufactured from 96%
recycled glass, and can be
integrated with lighting,
grills and other M&E
considerations. StoSilent
boards are permeable and
have a honeycomb-like
structure, which allows noise
and sound to dissipate
through a void space,
thereby balancing the
acoustic environment.
StoSilent Distance is a
lightweight system, and
unlike exposed grid and soft
tile alternatives, the boards
will not sag or delaminate. It
can be used to create many
dierent design features,
including seamless, inclined
planes or curves, or sharp
and consistent joints.
According to Sto, the
benefit to the architects and
end-user is that the system
can also be repaired and
re-furbished throughout
the lifetime of the building
without greatly negating
the value of the acoustics,
wherever the system has
been installed.
